VICTORIA JORDANOVA
Biography
Victoria Jordanova is a an American composer/harpist/media artist/ born in former Yugoslavia. Jordanova melds experimental techniques, electronics and improvisation with her classical music education. Recordings of her music were published by Composer's Recordings Inc., Innova, and ArpaViva labels. Jordanova wrote music for ensembles such as The California EAR Unit, Zeitgeist, Bang On The Can All Stars, Creative Voices, and CurvedAir. Her music was included in "The Composer-Performer 40 Years of Discovery", Composer's Recordings Inc. 40th Anniversary Anthology of American Music in 1994. Her album "Requiem for Bosnia and Other Works" was selected as one of the 10 best classical recordings of the year by Tim Page in New York NewsDay in 1994.

In 2003, Jordanova founded ArpaViva - music organization dedicated to harp, its performance practices and repertoire, and was praised by the critics "for having brought harp into the the 21st. century". The same year she received the San Francisco Arts Commission grant for "Panopticon" - a new music theater piece - which she premiered with the California EAR Unit.

In 2005, she premiered "Suspended" - composition for Harp ,electronic pedals and a vibrating glove, at the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival. Her composition "Secret Life Of Bees" for 6 electro-acoustic harps was premiered at the 2006 World Harp Congress in Dublin, Ireland. Jordanova's 2007 realization/performance/ of J.Cages "Postcard From Heaven" for 20 harps and Pamela Z's vocal ossia parts became the premier recording of the piece.

She graduated from Belgrade "Mokranjac" Conservatory, holds BA from MSU and was resident of the "Cite International des Arts" in Paris, during her post graduate work. She returned to the US on Langley scholaship and received her MA from NYU.

Jordanova now lives in Los Angeles with her husband visual artist Relja Penezic and their two dogs.
